Windows Desktop Search Tool

One of the new features available in Windows Vista is the Instant Search tool. Rather than navigating through a file hierarchy searching for files, Vista users can simply type keywords in the search field on the Start menu to find documents, e-mail messages as well as programs and photos.

For the users of XP and 2003, Microsoft provides a similar tool called the Windows Desktop Search and it can be downloaded from Microsoft free of charge here:
